About
Jolie Bodner Zangari has joined the Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center faculty after serving as an Assistant District Attorney in Brooklyn, New York and as an Assistant Professor at the State University of New York. At Touro Law, Professor Zangari will teach courses in Legal Process I and II.
Professor Zangari’s scholarly and practitioner publications include topics on the expansion of parental criminal liability for children’s violent crimes, an analysis of depraved indifference murder in New York State, and the evolution of sexual privacy laws in a modern virtual world. Several of her articles have been published by the American Bar Association and distributed internationally to criminal attorneys, judges, and academics. Professor Zangari has presented to various bar associations and law schools on criminal liability relating to mass violence in schools and the evolution of cyber sexual misconduct and sexual privacy laws. She also writes a quarterly column titled “Recent Reads,” which is published by the American Bar Association.
Prior to joining academia, Professor Zangari served as an Assistant District Attorney at the Kings County District Attorney’s Office in Brooklyn, New York. She was primarily assigned to the Sex Crimes and Special Victims Bureau, where she investigated and prosecuted sexual offenses from arraignment to trial. While at SUNY, Professor Zangari taught courses in Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure, Criminal Behavior, Juvenile Delinquency, and Research in Crime and Security. She was recently presented with a Faculty Achievement Award in Research.
Professor Zangari received her J.D., summa cum laude, at Touro Law Center where she was a David Berg Public Interest Fellow, a Designated Faculty Fellow, and part of the Honors Program. During her time as a law student, she earned numerous awards for Academic Excellence in various courses. She also holds a M.A., summa cum laude, in Criminology and Justice from St. John’s University.
